STATEMENT
“Julia’s Journeys” is the title of Lark’s current series of paintings. They tell the story of Julia, Lark’s brave Grandmother, and her migration to the U.S. They start in early 1940, when Julia was a young woman in Guatemala in a bad situation she had to get out of. They are loosely based on her life, with many embellishments. Julia made her goal in four years, to a place where there were few Hispanics. It wasn’t easy for her, but she discovered a new world along the way.
Lark thought she should post the back stories of the paintings for a deeper perspective into them. She hopes you enjoy Julia and her many adventures.
