Despite the multiple obstacles that this young talent have found in his path, he is been able to excel in everything he puts his mind into it. What is most remarkable about his magnificent paintings and creations is the fact that is 100% talent, imagination, inspiration, charisma, passion and his love for painting. He is not a graduate from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, or the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, but he is a graduate of life, of struggle, of hard work, discipline and dedication. All his paintings tell us a history, tell us his experiences, his origin and culture, his spiritual believes, his views on life itself. I'm not an art expert, but I'm a fan of art and a fan to talent; and I must say that Efrain posses an incalculable amount of talent, and I know that he will be able to reach any goal that he has in mind and more. Gourds are a hard-shell, pumpkin like, vine fruit that dries to a wood like finish- anything you can do to wood you can do to hard-shell gourds. They can be carved-sanded- burned-dyed and painted on. A great deal of effort goes into the design and I pay meticulous attention to detail, both with the gourd -its shape, colour and texture, and with the design. Each piece is unique and they can take up to 100 hours or more to complete. I am especially motivated by nature's beauty and fragility and often my favourite gourds are ones designed around Hindu mythology. Each gourd has a life of its own, hand-crafted by Mother Nature, and enhanced only by my imagination. It gives me great pleasure to offer my artwork for viewing.and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating these special gourds.
