Vilijus Vaisvila is a well-known painter not only in the Scandinavia and Baltic Countries, but in the whole Europe too. If we take a look at Vilijus Vaisvila’s art history, we would find many big and small sizes, exhibition and decorative paintings, wooden, stone and metal sculptures, frescoes, mosaics.
All of artist’s paintings, for all their concreteness and authenticity are well built with the occasional,
unimportant details carefully weeded out. The composition is usually conceived parallel to the surface of the canvas, so as offer the viewer an integral and clear perception of the entire peace. Master’s works are based on the contrast between outward traquillity and internal tension. Vilijus Vaisvila’s artistic progress is a fine example of the consecutive and purposeful development of the spiritual world and humanistic aspirations of an artist in our own day.
Today we find churches, cathedrals, universities and other social institutions decorated by the brilliant hands of Lithuanian Master. Vilijus Vaisvila is popular in business and entertainment world as well. Many hotels, jewellery shops, restaurants, entertainment centres are decorated with canvases, frescoes, sculptures…
The latest exhibition called “Portraits” was displayed by the end of 2003 in Siauliai, Lithuania. Other
paintings were exhibited in London (UK), Bromella (Sweden), Oslo (Norway) galleries during past 2 years.
In the end of 2002 Vilijus Vaisvila was invited to Marbella (Spain) to accomplish a special order - few wall frescoes. European art collectors are fond of Vilijus Vaisvila’s arts.
As a great member of the American Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA) the artist was invited to many famous people houses, because they wanted to have their family’s portraits made by him.
One of the the biggest masterpieces was made in year 2000 in Denmark. “Scandlines Co” have chosen Lithuanian artist from many European painters to decorate huge, amusement ferry boat “Sjaland”, locating in the centre of Copenhagen City. In two months Vilijus Vaisvila have painted a fresco of 142 meters in length and 2 meters in height on the wall of the biggest of the restaurant. The artist has painted an underwater town, drowned ships, lots of mermaids and fishes, and none of them repeated itself in the fresco. Hundreds of tourists visiting that time Copenhagen had a chance to take a look how the dark walls were becoming an amazing “underwater” fresco…
I believe in guardian angels. I started thinking about good people and evil People and if the good person prevails - not always. I started with a sort of bad girl and the angel just appeared - really it was like magic.

Artist statement
I desire to communicate universally. To capture the beauty of lifes simplest moments
and thrue that have a visual dialogue between my art and audience. I want to express
both the suffering and joy that surrounds all people and be emotionally powerfull.
My paintings are reflection of the present but influenced by what came before me.
They are ment to evoke emotion by representing matters of the soul. Each painting
tells a story and explores, shaped and influenced by the events surrounding my life.
The nude is common motif in my paintings. I paint visual stories of people. I try to
see past the flesh and bone and discover what resides in their depths of their souls and
bring the hidden thoughts of an individual to the surface of the canvas.
I love experimenting with boundary between realism and expressionism. My educational
backround greatly influences the way i paint. My passion is for light and shadow and
how it plays upon the human body.
I use sometimes thick and sometimes thin texture with earthly tones and dramatic use
of light and shadow to enhance the feeling of the subject coming alive.
I would like to show the multiplicity of life ,working with oil, using my work to bring
attention to political, social, religional events and human relationship to nature.
